Preamp & DAC

Preamp features

Underneath the hood of the PDC-2.6P are several features that make it ideal as a Preamp.
Remote control of

  • Input source switching (1x SPDIF, 1x AES/EBU, 1x Balanced Analog, 1x RCA Analog)

  • Volume control, implemented post-DAC on the analog signal to maintain full bit-resolution in the digital domain

  • 3-Band fully parametric digital tone control providing Media Correction with 100 profile memory

  • The DEQX Calibrated™ Hardware Technology

DEQX's expertise in analog and digital hardware design has produced an excellent hardware implementation of a Preamp, DAC, ADC and DSP engine. All circuit sections are carefully laid out to minimize interference between one another, and to maximize performance. The power supply design used in DEQX products features three levels of voltage regulation to achieve a clean supply of power for each voltage rail.

In their most basic operation, the DEQX PDC 2.6 and 2.6P operate as a high fidelity digital to analog converter.

    Hardware

From using quality components, through good design and careful PCB layout, an exceptionally well performing DAC has been realized.

Even with no other features of the PDC processing in operation, the PDC 2.6 and 2.6P DAC stages are comparable to standalone DAC units of similar and even greater price.

The DAC sections are based around an Analog Devices 24-bit, 192kHz capable differential multibit sigma-delta converter chip, which operates at an internal sampling rate of 6MHz.

The measured in-system performance of the DAC and its associated output stage is exceptional. A measured dynamic range of -108.9dB-A, and THD of 0.00013% (1kHz, -6dBFS)
