FAQ - Introduction to DEQX Concepts

2. Is DEQX Calibrated™ room correction ?

DEQX Calibrated™ processing performs both room correction and 'anechoic' correction of the loudspeaker by using two sets of measurement data. Room correction can only realistically correct response below about 500Hz. This is why DEQX uses its pseudo-anechoic speaker correction to enable response to be corrected through the mid range to above 20kHz in addition to room correction.

Note than most room correction systems can vary amplitude (frequency response) but do not attempt phase correction; those that do, also only correct phase in the lower several octaves.

By combining both phase and amplitude correction for the lower four to five octaves of the audio spectrum using DEQX Room Correction with both phase and amplitude correction for the upper six octaves by using DEQX Speaker Correction, DEQX Calibrated™ is a unique enabling technology resulting in the highest standard of linear audio playback quality possible.

The DEQX PDC-2.6 processor also provides three-way active digital crossovers and ten-band parametric equalization for preset user preferences.
