In a move to more accurately describe its unique
digital audio loudspeaker correction and room acoustics compensation
technology, ClarityEQ has announced a new name for the process
- DEQX Calibrated™.
"DEQX" (pronounced 'dex') is shorthand for Digital
EQ and Crossover (X). The DEQX Calibrated™ process
involves measuring and analysing errors in loudspeaker drivers,
loudspeaker systems, and the listening room. Using this data,
the signals going to the loudspeakers are processed in real-time
to compensate for these errors.
"As
a name, DEQX Calibrated™ better reflects the
full breadth of this technology - its simply not just another
graphic or parametric EQ!" says Kim Ryrie, company
co-founder and Executive Director.
"First of all, the process
is digital, and the equalisation is automatically tuned rather
than adjusted manually. Next, it adds a high order linear phase
digital crossover for active implementations, eliminating the
distortion caused by drivers contributing audio outside their
range. And room correction compensates for unruly, often dominating,
room acoustics that may mask and/or exaggerate certain frequencies.
It operates on the lower frequencies, effectively controlling
boominess or a muddy sound in the bass."
The process was previously known
as "Clarity Calibrated" or "EQCalibrated".
Finally, Kim adds "We
like to think of DEQX Calibrated™ as
digital EQ with the added X factor!" |
