Once the speakers are managed using DEQX™ speaker correction, the in-room response is measured and corrected. DEQX™ room correction is then targeted directly at the room acoustic effects, rather than trying to correct everything in one go.
Listening position measurements are taken using a calibrated microphone. The measurements produce an impulse response and frequency response of the room, which can then be used for analysis. The room correction can be tailored to each user's preference, allowing control of the frequency correction region, maximum boost and cut, and different EQ styles. When using multiple measurement positions, only common peaks and troughs present in each measurement are corrected. Alternatively the user can sum together any set of measurements, or select one that is characteristic of a group. DEQX™ cepstrum based logarithmic smoothing allows a controllable amount of resolution in the measurement signal without destroying the phase response. This more accurately represents the room response that we perceive.
The flexible measurement analysis system allows objective acoustic evaluation of speaker and subwoofer placement, and any physical room treatments or furniture placement. DEQX™ room correction then allows the remaining room response modes (which were previously unmanageable to be corrected. return to top |
