Which models do speaker and room correction?

All models do. The HDP models also provide HD-Active™ – the ability to do linear phase digital crossovers.

Which models are Roon Ready?

The PreMate Plus and the HDP-5 are Roon Ready. The touchscreen displays the artwork for the current album playing.

Which models do HD-Active?

The HDP-Express II, HDP-4 and HDP-5. The HDP-4 and HDP-5 offer balanced and digital outputs. The HDP-5 offers a touchscreen control panel and network audio including Roon.

Is there any downside to getting an HD-Active model if I plan to use only stereo speakers to start with?

No, there is no downside (apart from the difference in cost). The HDP-4 is just like the PreMATE but with HD-Active capability; similarly, the HDP-5 is just like the PreMATE+ but with HD-Active capability.

How long does it take to receive a DEQX after ordering?

It depends on whether we have stock of your ordered model and configuration (e.g. faceplate color) on hand. Typically, units leave the factory between 2 and 7 business days after ordering. Every unit is individually tested prior to despatch.

Where can I hear one for myself?

We regularly attend and exhibit at audio shows, including the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Many of our dealers have a DEQX set up for audition, and you may be able to use our home audition program.

What is the difference between the PreMate and the PreMate Plus?

Compared to the PreMate, the PreMate Plus has a display/control touchscreen on the front panel, an Ethernet port for network audio streaming (Roon and DLNA), and 12V trigger outputs.

What is the difference between the PreMate and HDP-4?

The PreMate does not have the "High" outputs (used for tweeters in HD-Active systems), and has only a single digital output (the HDP-4 has four digital outputs).

Should I use subwoofers?

In addition to the obvious advantage of extending bass response, the DEQX approach to subwoofer integration also highpasses the main speakers. This reduces cone excursion, thus reducing distortion and increasing resolution!

Can you calibrate the speakers (and subwoofers) for me?

Yes! We can. In fact, we include it for free when you buy a DEQX. Be sure to book your first DEQXpert session soon after receiving your new DEQX to make sure you get the best out of it.

What is the difference between the PreMate Plus and the PreMate?

FAQ : HDP-Express II

What is the difference between the HDP-Express II and the HDP-4?

The HDP-Express II doesn't have balanced or digital outputs and the analog circuits use slightly less "audiophile grade" components. In addition, the front panel buttons are not provided (use the remote control or DEQX-Cal).

Does the HDP-Express II have a USB Audio input?

The standard version of the HDP-Express II does not have the USB Audio input. This is because it is often used for speaker development and as a slave unit in more complex systems. However, you can add the USB input as an option when you order. It does have four digital and two analog inputs as standard.

Is the audio processing any different?

The HDP-Express II has identical digital processing to the more expensive units, with the same features and specifications.

Can I use it with full-range (passive) speakers?

Yes! To use with conventional passive speakers, simply connect the power amplifier to the Mid/Full outputs.
