The HDP-Express II, HDP-4 and HDP-5. The HDP-4 and HDP-5 offer balanced and digital outputs. The HDP-5 offers a touchscreen control panel and network audio including Roon.
No, there is no downside (apart from the difference in cost). The HDP-4 is just like the PreMATE but with HD-Active capability; similarly, the HDP-5 is just like the PreMATE+ but with HD-Active capability.
